What does hair porosity mean?

Hair porosity is the ability of the hair to absorb any liquid. Much like a sponge, the hair will absorb water, but how long does hair take to become fully saturated? This is greatly determined by the condition of the cuticle.

Hair porosity is usually categorized as normal, resistant, or severe porosity.

Normal porosity (Medium) has an average amount of absorption, considering it is in good condition. This hair is usually maintained properly using professional ph balancing hair care products.

Resistant porosity (LOW) has cuticle scales that are lying flat, making the amount of liquid absorbed minimal.

Severe porosity(High) is when the cuticle scales are raised due to damage by either chemical services or the use of harsh hair care tools.
